About Grayton Girl Fishing Charters
Captain Jody Wesley has been fishing the waters of South Walton for over 40 years. Jody and his brother Sam fell in love with fishing at an early age. Captain Jody was the first charter boat captain to launch in Grayton Beach and has been doing so for 20 years. Growing up fishing these waters have given Captain Jody an incredible knowledge of the local fish population and where to find them.
About the boat
The Grayton Girl is a 19ft Cape Horn fitted with state of the art electronics and top notch tackle. A day on the water in Grayton Girl will give you memories to last a lifetime and plenty of fish to take home!
What to expect
Here’s a guide with all you need to know about your trip on Grayton Girl.
We meet in Grayton Beach on the corner across from Chiringo.
We load up and drive to the launch area on the beach. We like to catch live bait specific to the species we are targeting. Then it's time to go fishing. Most of the spots that we bottom fish on are no more than six miles off shore, and include natural bottom, wrecks and natural and man-made reefs.
When the cobia show up in the spring, we cruise the shoreline just past the second sand bar. There is nothing like throwing an eel to an eager cobia and pulling him in.
Trolling for King Fish, Spanish Mackerel, Mahi Mahi and Amberjack is also an option. We've landed tuna, sailfish and sharks too. You just never know what might end up on the other end of your line!
